Alan Moraes was born on April 16, 1977 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Alan began his martial arts career through judo in school at the M. A B. E., he was 10 years old and the tuition was run by coach Josemar. Alan trained for six years in his school, being undefeated throughout that period while winning the inter-tournament 5 times, being also the country’s inter collegiate champion and two time Colégio Veiga de Almeida tournament champion.

In 1992 Alan Moraes had his first contact with Jiu Jitsu. He was a Judo athlete for the Flamengo club and started picking up BJJ to improve his ground skills. His first Jiu Jitsu coach was the illustrious Marcelo Alonso, but not long after he started, Marcelo moved to the United States and the coaching was picked up by instructor Marinho. Under Marinho’s guidance, Alan Moraes started competing and winning his first competitions in Jiu Jitsu, he also starts assisting the other Carlson Gracie coaches with the kids classes.

Marinho awarded all Alan’s belts until his purple, his training was then handed to Ari Galo, who promoted him to brown belt and invited Alan to start assisting him with the adults classes, thus giving start to a new phase in Alan Moraes’ life.

On December 2002, after a series of podium runs in the brown belt division in the World Cup and Rio State Championships, Alan Moraes finally receives his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, awarded by Carlson Gracie Junior. He continued his work as a coach in the famed club.


3rd degree Black Belt and 3 x World Champion, Samir Chantre started BJJ when he was 9 years old and received his black belt from Professor Alan Moraes, Carlson Gracie Team at the age of 20. Professor Samir moved to Northern California in 2009 to pursuit his dream of becoming a World Champion and having his own academy.

Professor Samir Chantre teaches full time at Ares BJJ Academy in Modesto, CA.

Milton Bastos is a first degree black belt and is from Sao Paulo Brazil. He studied Physical Education at UNIP (Universidade Paulista) which helped him become a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wrestling coach as well as a personal trainer. He has been dedicating his career to both areas since he was 13 years old. Within this time he has acquired many titles and championships, as well as guided many others to their own world titles. He has been instructing in USA since 2009 and received his black belt under Ricardo "Franjinha" Miller since 2010. Currently, Milton resides in Santa Clara, California, where he owns his academy in Mountain View, CA and is one of the founding members of the Ares Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association.


Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, Osvaldo "Queixinho" Moizinho was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but now lives in Phoenix, AZ - USA where he trains and teaches at Phoenix BJJ.

Osvaldo started training Martial Arts when he was 8 years old. His first sport was judo and when he was 17 he started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

In 2010 he was awarded his Black Belt from Soul Fighters Academy in Brazil. Osvaldo loves to compete and is always looking forward to his next competition. He has achieved his life time goal of becoming a World Champion. He is now 4x IBJJF World No Gi Champion.
